Tony Belmont was an outstanding high school football player, but a knee injury caused him to sit out his senior year and miss playing in the state championship game. Now a twenty-four-year-old college graduate, he works at the city Parks and Recreation Department, and spends his spare time playing in local pickup games.
One night he attends his old high school’s final regular season game and encounters his ex-coach, which results in an unusual invitation. To save his job and the jobs of his coaching staff, Coach Pettis invites Tony to fill in for an injured player. Believing it’s a dream-come-true scenario, Tony accepts. Pettis believes Tony could be the difference in the playoffs, and asks him to play for the duration of the season.
Tony’s family and friends are concerned and as the team keeps winning, their fears and concerns grow. When he reinjures his knee at work, with the championship game looming, Tony makes a drastic choice. But how far is he willing to go? Will he sacrifice his friends, his health, and his integrity for a second chance at the championship title?
