In this Southern ghost story, young Artist Zadie Williams finds herself pitted against her stepmother, the increasingly famous collagist Chloe Anderson.  Zadie is consumed with grief by the early death of her mother, Leslie, and her father’s quick remarriage.  Zadie’s budding career seems to be undermined when she discovers that her stepmother has used her mother’s images, pottery, and quilts to increase her own fame, and when the ghost of Leslie seems to reappear, she marshals all her powers to summon the dead and bring her stepmother down.

Author

Sarah Kennedy is a professor of English at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia and the author of seven books of poems. She holds a PhD in Renaissance Literature and an MFA in Creative Writing. Sarah has received grants from both the National Endowment for the Arts and the Virginia Commission for the Arts and is currently a contributing editor for Shenandoah.
